I have worked with 'live' events since I was at school......
being involved in both
organising and performing at school concerts and dances. It has
given me a lot of pleasure
to work with some of my favourite artists over the years in one
capacity or another.
Among the musical stars I have worked with during my career are
Elton John, Bob Dylan,
INXS, B.B. King, John Denver, Chubby Checker, Desmond Dekker, Kenny
G, Gerry & The
Pacemakers, The Searchers, The Platters, The Drifters, Pat Boone and
Rita Coolidge.
I have also presented comedians, including Billy Connolly, Dame
Edna, George Roper, Jim
Davidson and Jasper Carrott.
Kenny G
I was
Managing Director of BMG Pacific Limited when I co-promoted Kenny
G's first ever concerts
in Hongkong together with Harley Medcalf of Duet Productions of
Australia. He performed to
sell-out crowds for five days at Hongkong's Queen Elizabeth Stadium
in 1992. I also worked
with Kenny on enhancing his recording career in Asia and suggested
that he could improve
his sales by including an Asian song on his Breathless album. He
agreed to this and ended
up recording the traditional Chinese song Jasmine Flower.
After leaving BMG, I again worked with Duet Productions on
presenting Kenny G in
concert at the much larger Hongkong Coliseum. We broke all records
by managing to cram
12.551 people into the venue for two nights running! In order to
achieve this audience
figure, Kenny and his band performed 'in the round'.
